Frequently asked Questions about Couples/Marriage Counseling
What happens at Marriage Counseling?
Issues are resolved that the couple was unable to resolve themselves, which allows both to feel better individually and as a couple. This enhances the marital relationship and overflows positively into other relationships.
Does Insurance Cover Marriage Counseling?
Yes! Most insurance policies covers “Family Counseling”, which means that the identified client can bring their spouse (or other family member(s)) to their sessions. Online sessions can be done this way, as long as the identified client lives in and is in the state the therapist is licensed in during the session. The spouse or family member can be in other locations, such as another state, deployed/working in another state/country.
Should I see the same therapist as my spouse?
-
If you are talking about being a CLIENT of the same therapist that your spouse is a client of the answer is NO. You must find the right fit therapist for you to best feel better about yourself.
-
If you are attending sessions with your spouse to resolve issues between you and one of you is the identified client, then yes, that is a great idea!
