How do I know if my teen needs counseling?

Teenagers often go through moods, stages, and phases so it is important to be keenly aware as to how long the behavior or condition has been going on and how intense it is. Usually, an issue that goes on for more than two weeks is about the time to start looking for a counselor/therapist that specializes in this age group.

How do I find a therapist for my teen?

A reputable and licensed therapist or counseling service will have licensure, training, experience, and specialties displayed in all literature or on a website which will allow for a chance to find one you think is a good fit; and then upon meeting with that counselor your teen will communicate to you if they are the best fit. This is important, as counseling is an on-going process and when there is a connection between the therapist and client, the best results can come of it.
